CPP Investments’ External Portfolio Management (EPM) group has relationships with 65+ hedge funds and asset managers.
EPM invests in several verticals, including established fund managers, in new launches and early stage funds, and in public market co-investments alongside partners. It managed C$48 billion as of Sept. 30, 2023.
EPM's Emerging Managers Program has provided C$6 billion of seed and early-stage capital to 18 hedge fund managers since 2016. A typical seed capital deal locks up capital for 2-3 years, with managers giving CPP Investments investment transparency and capacity rights, and in some instances revenue sharing.
CPP Investments is the investment manager for the Canada Pension Plan, which had C$576 billion in assets as of Sept. 30 2023.
