By Ed Rowley, October 2024
Each year in late January, the hedge fund and alternative investment industries converge on Miami and nearby locations for an intensive series of conferences and events.
The collection of events is known as “Miami Hedge Fund Week”, though more recently some are saying “Miami Alts Week”. Over the years, the events have broadened to incorporate other alternatives strategies including private equity, private credit, venture capital and digital assets.
Also, while it's called a "week", in reality the events spread into the weeks prior and following the core period of January 27-30. For the purposes of this guide, I list relevant events during a three-week period from January 20 to February 7.
Several notable changes are taking place in 2025, including departures, additions and a significant merger between two major conferences:
The four departures and one merger described above threatened to significantly reduce the number of events, particularly during the core week. However, the addition of three events, including two new conferences, restores some diversity to the lineup.
For 2025, I list conferences that I believe alternatives allocators, managers and service providers would want to know about. The list includes conferences taking place during the central week (January 27-30), as well as conferences during the week before and the week after.
I’ve erred on the side of including more rather than fewer events, so readers can get a fuller picture of everything that's happening. I’ll update this list as information comes in or changes.

Description: This is the 27th annual “Breakers” cap intro conference held by Morgan Stanley. The event is invite-only. Selected Morgan Stanley hedge fund clients meet, network and share ideas with institutional investors.
Description: The private credit industry gathers for relationship building and knowledge sharing. 350+ attendees including private credit GPs and institutional and family office allocators meet for panels and presentations, "meet the allocator" roundtables and networking sessions.
Description: Uncorrelated is a new conference dedicated to alternative investments, including niche and capacity constrained strategies. The event aims to bring together 600+ managers and allocators for discussions, networking events and allocator roundtables. It aims to be a less expensive and more bespoke conference.
Description: Already the largest of the Hedge Fund Week events, Global Alts will grow even larger in 2025 as it merges with MFA’s Network conference and expands to the nearby convention center, facilitating 5,000+ attendees. The conference features pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings between allocators and alternatives managers, along with 200+ speakers.
Description: This new conference connects independent sponsors and capital providers for one-on-one meetings, with each attendee scheduling 12 speed networking meetings. The event also features content sessions and a cocktail networking reception.
Description: The trade association for futures exchanges and their industry counterparts holds this annual conference. The commodities industry gathers to network and hear insights on the market outlook for the year ahead.
Description: Buy-side, sell-side and technology innovators from the equity trading industry meet for a range of in-depth panels and presentations on trading topics. The conference also features roundtable discussions and networking.
In addition to the conferences, multiple smaller gatherings are held by associations, managers and service providers. Some people travel to Miami just for these events, rather than formally attending a conference.
These side events include dinners, cocktail receptions, yacht gatherings and presentations. Last year I listed 17 that were publicly disclosed. In updates to this guide I’ll start building out this list.
